ECONOMIST · EDUCATOR · RESEARCHER

Li Qi

Hal & Julia T. Smith Professor of Free Enterprise
Professor of Economics
Agnes Scott College

I am an economist whose work began with economic development, particularly China and other East Asian and transitional economies. Later my research expanded into behavioral economics and finance, where I study how individual decisions shape broader economic outcomes. Recently, I have brought experimental methods into my work on AI and economics education. These interests also shape my teaching and student mentoring work, which often cross disciplinary boundaries, connecting economics and finance with psychology, behavioral sciences, health, international relations, and Asian studies. I help students see economics not as an isolated discipline, but as a way to ask questions, evaluate evidence, and understand the world.
